The idea of creating spaces that guarantee well-being for their users has always been at the base of our design philosophy. The undertaking of the design for a “wellness” environment was, therefore, a natural development for ss.mm design.
Using integrated design based on the B.I.M. (Building Information Modeling) system we proposed a modern-day spa that would offer treatments not only for physical, but also for spiritual wellbeing.
Our first concern was to find the right balance between aesthetics, technology and functionality, three basic elements for the success of any spa. That required some invasive interventions in the existing shop. We intervened to change floor and wall finishes, add graphics, balance the colors and the lighting; we redesigned all millwork and work surfaces to be warm and inviting, incorporating all required technology; most of all, we reconfigured the layout to make sure this would be a functional space with easy user flow.
Occupying two levels, Melo Beauty Bar welcomes guests on the ground floor, in a stylish modern but cozy salon devoted to facial, hand and foot beauty treatment.
A glamorous wooden staircase and corridor lead to the basement and “heart” of the spa. Several massage rooms are each decorated with unique colors and mystical atmospheres based on floral concepts.
The owners trusted us in our thinking, and this led to a result consistent in both style and function, which goes to show that even in small projects, with due attention and open-mindedness, considerable results are often achieved in terms of creativity and well-being.
